What is snoring apnea, and how can you go about getting rid of this harmful habit? First off, snoring and sleep apnea are two separate things, but they are certainly connected, as one often times leads to the other.

Sleep apnea happens when you actually cease to breathe for a time while you sleep, and you only start after making a loud snorting noise. Often times, this is also come causes snoring, which is why many believe they are related.

Sleep apnea certainly can lead to snoring, although getting rid of snoring will not necessarily correct the apnea.

Some habitual snoring individuals can stop the snoring by making sure to keep their bodies positioned on one or the other side. This can easily be done by the usage of several pillows being positioned up against the back and front areas of the body during sleep. Or even by sewing a tennis ball in the back of your nightgown or nightshirt so that you will wake up when trying to roll over onto the back.

You may also eat late at night and this can as well cause sleepless nights and you may not even realize that this could be the problem. It is a good idea to try to drink non caffeinated drinks after 5pm and see if this helps you sleep better.

Remember that there can be many reasons that you are not sleeping well and one of the ones that gets missed a lot of getting too much caffeine at night. Also you could have late night snacks that could be disrupting your sleep patterns as well.

This is a common problem among the elderly population, because the throat muscles are less strong and therefore begin to sag and reduce the amount of room available for the air. A great way to stop this immediately is to eat healthier, and workout more to strengthen your muscles and eliminate fat.
